Got word that despite the original USACE public notice comment deadline of 11:59PM tonight, we can request a 15 day extension to submit testimony. Around 3:30pm We made the request and will update this when we get a reply.

The following are Honolulu City Council resolutions and Bills/Ordinance that were introduced and adopted over the last two years that demonstrate their support for the concerns of the people to preserve and protect the People’s Park.

Also included is Resolution 98-188 CD1 that was created to protect parks like the People’s Park, against activation of open spaces at the expense to loss of open spaces, by specifying that  Active uses, such as softball and soccer play, may  be included provided that permanent structures relating to these uses are not constructed  in these parks.”

The purpose of this ordinance is to maintain the existing recreational uses of Ala Moana Regional Park, ensure that the park is safe for park users, and preserve the enjoyment of the park for the largest number of park users

ORD19-026 Extend Life Guard coverage (BILL 39)
The purpose of this ordinance is to establish a program in the department of emergency services to serve public safety and welfare by extending lifeguard services at public beaches to cover daytime hours.

BILL 54 (2019) Wheeled Devices New Park Rules
The purpose of this ordinance is to regulate canopies, pallets, platform trucks, tarps and wheeled devices in City parks.
